People moves: AlTi Global, Sarasin & Partners, and Standard Life

AlTi Tiedemann Global has appointed Alex Kershaw as managing director.

Kershaw will be based in the wealth manager’s London office. He brings more than 24 years of experience in providing advice on investments to institutional and private clients to the role. At AlTi, Kershaw will serve an international investor base, concentrating on the UK and Middle East initially. He will focus on single family offices, endowments and foundations, and other institutions, and lead the outsourced chief investment officer offering for AlTi’s International Wealth Management business. Prior to joining AlTi, Kershaw was a partner at Stanhope Capital for seven years, where he established the firm’s Middle East business, working with institutions and families there and in the UK. Prior to that, he served as a partner at Cambridge Associates, the global advisory firm, for 16 years.

Sarasin & Partners has named John Muir as business development director for Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England.

Muir brings 27 years of experience in business development, sales leadership and relationship management to the role. Most recently, he served as sales director at O-IM Investment Services, where he worked closely with professional advisers, wealth managers and business owners. He has also held senior roles at firms including Baron & Grant Investment Management, Aubrey Capital Management, and Rathbones. At Sarasin & Partners, Muir will aim to strengthen existing relationships in the area and develop new opportunities with professional intermediaries.

Standard Life has appointed tax and estate planning specialist, Neil Jones, to enhance its technical wealth planning support for advisers.

With more than 30 years’ experience across adviser firms and pension providers, Jones brings expertise in international wealth management, tax, estate and retirement planning, as Standard Life looks to strengthen its private client and retail intermediary team. His role will include providing technical support to adviser firms around wealth management and estate planning strategies covering a range of topics and themes.
