The Personal Investment Management & Financial Advice Association (PIMFA) has named Lord Andrew Tyrie as its new chair.
Tyrie brings experience in shaping financial regulation over the past 20 years, having been chair of the Parliamentary Commission on banking standards, the Liaison Committee, the Commons Treasury Select Committee, and the Competition & Markets Authority. He was MP for Chichester from 1997 to 2017. Tyrie was appointed after PIMFA announced its previous chair, Lord Deben, had stepped down. Deben was chair of PIMFA for nine years, during which time he played a key role in taking the organisation forward following the amalgamation of WMA and APFA to create PIMFA. He has since worked to strengthen the position and standing of the association, championing the interests of members, and the sustainability of the advice and personal investment services sector. PIMFA stated that, during his time as chair, Deben helped the association navigate a period of significant regulatory, economic, and industry change, while continuing to advocate for high standards and positive client outcomes.
