People moves: Brooks Macdonald, AlTi Global, and Copia Capital

Brooks Macdonald has appointed Will Hobbs as its chief investment officer.

Hobbs brings experience in global portfolios, equities, sector allocations, investment strategies and investment management for high net worth (HNW) and ultra HNW individuals. He began his career at Barclays more than 20 years ago as a senior global equity analyst/vice president. Hobbs later became head of global equity strategy, head of investment strategy, and, most recently, chief investment officer and head of UK multi asset wealth. He will report to Brooks Macdonald CEO, Andrea Montague, and be a member of the executive committee.

AlTi Global has named Nancy Curtin as the interim chief executive officer of AlTi.

Curtin is a member of the executive leadership team and serves as global chief investment officer (CIO) of AlTi. She succeeds Michael Tiedemann, who will remain available in an advisory capacity to support the transition. Curtin brings decades of leadership experience in the wealth management industry. Since AlTi’s inception, she has served as global CIO, prior to which she was CIO and head of investments at Alvarium Investments from 2020 until it merged to create AlTi, and held similar leadership positions at Close Brothers Asset Management and Fortune Asset Management. Her early career included senior executive and investment roles at Schroders and Barings Asset Management.

Copia Capital Management has appointed Ian Hooper as managing director.

In the role, Hooper will look to accelerate growth across its custom and off-the-shelf managed portfolio services, with a focus on delivering robust, risk-rated solutions aligned to financial planning goals. He will also join the executive leadership team of Quanta Group, Copia’s parent company, to develop the discretionary fund management proposition within the wider group. Hooper has over 28 years’ experience in financial markets. He previously spent almost 10 years at Progeny Asset Management, initially as managing director, before becoming group chief investment officer. Prior to that, he was an investment manager at Redmayne-Bentley LLP for 16 years.
