Investec has launched its new dedicated electronic equity trading desk as part of the next phase of the expansion of its global trading offering.
The desk will be headed up by Investec’s new hire Dominic Lowres, who joins Investec alongside Matthew West.
It will aim to provide clients will access to a new global electronic execution channel that is designed to meet growing demand for electronic trading solutions.
Investec stated that this development will further enable its clients to execute high-touch trading solutions, as they will now have access to its bespoke trading consultancy across both high- and low-touch solutions.
The desk will also cater to the increasing proportion of digital wallets resulting from the continued growth of passive investments.
Commenting on the launch, Investec head of electronic trading and execution strategy, Dominic Lowres, said: “We are delighted to announce this important new stage in the growth of Investec’s client-centric equity franchise.
“Clients are constantly looking at how they can improve execution quality, maximise access to liquidity, reduce their trading costs and ensure ‘best execution’ with partners who can intelligently navigate and innovate in the electronic trading landscape to provide the speed and service they require.”
Investec head of equities, Clive Murray, added: “Our approach to trading has always been to put our clients first.
“One of the services we’ll offer all our clients as part of our overall trading solutions is bespoke trading consultancy, where we leverage our deep insight into the equities market and advise clients on their ideal approach to market access in a unique way.
“We believe that it’s this highly personalised service that differentiates us from the market and provides real long-term value to clients on a global scale.”
Lowres joined Investec this year from Panmure Liberum, where he was head of execution strategy, and previously worked for UBS.
Meanwhile, West also joined the firm from Panmure Liberum, and prior to that Deutsche Numis, where he was an electronic sales trader.
