Schroders to launch blended MPS and introduce seven new funds to Active Model Portfolios

Schroder Investment Solutions (SIS) has announced plans to launch a new blended model portfolio service (MPS) and add seven new component funds to its Active Model Portfolios.

SIS said the introduction of the seven new funds marked an important evolution from the previous strategy of direct investment in selected third-party funds.

Each new fund will invest in a range of third-party managers, offering diversification across regional equities, global bonds, and active asset allocation.

The funds to be added are: Schroder MPS North America Equity Portfolio; Schroder MPS Japan Equity Portfolio; Schroder MPS UK Equity Portfolio; Schroder MPS Europe ex UK Equity Portfolio; Schroder MPS Emerging Markets Equity Portfolio; Schroder Worldwide Corporate Bond Portfolio; and Schroder Active Asset Allocation Portfolio.

SIS said the new structure offered clients a more cost-effective means of accessing a wider range of investment opportunities through access to funds and assets not available on platforms.

Managers will also be able to implement changes outside of quarterly rebalances to support a more dynamic investment approach.

The integration of the funds into the Active Model Portfolios will take place across the quarterly rebalances in January and April 2026, and will be exclusively available to clients invested within SIS.

“We are thrilled to announce these exciting new developments as part of our continued commitment to delivering effective investment solutions for our clients,” said SIS CIO, Philip Chandler.

“The evolution of our Active Model Portfolios allows us to negotiate fee rebates with managers, reduce costs for clients, and exercise greater control in managing portfolio changes.

“In the past two years, we have already enhanced the Active Model Portfolio with the addition of the Schroder Worldwide Equity Portfolio and the Schroder Alternative Portfolio.

“Building on this foundation, these pivotal changes aim to provide clients with even broader diversification and affirm our dedication to creating forward-looking investment strategies that strengthen our overall proposition.”

Meanwhile, SIS also announced plans to launch the Schroder Blended Model Portfolio in early 2026.

The MPS will comprise six portfolios, which can invest in a range of vehicles and will be diversified across asset classes, geographies, sectors, and investment styles.

SIS said the portfolios would offer an actively managed portfolio solution that combined active and passive investment strategies.

The blended MPS also includes a dedicated allocation to alternative assets, such as real assets, hedge funds and commodities.

“Our latest Schroder UK Financial Adviser Survey revealed that UK advisers are increasingly prioritising diversification in client portfolios, highlighting a clear and growing demand for a broad range of investments,” commented Schroders head of UK wealth, Jamie Fowler.

“These enhancements to our proposition reflect our commitment to meeting this need by offering a variety of diversified solutions.

"The Blended MPS is well-positioned across a range of investment styles, employing an active approach that makes use of both active and passive strategies to help clients navigate evolving market conditions.”
