People moves: PIMFA, AXA IM, and Ocorian

Trade association PIMFA has names two new members to its board of directors: Andy McGlone and Charley Davies.

McGlone is chief executive of Quilter Cheviot and Davies is general counsel at Evelyn Partners, with both joining the board this month (November 2024). McGlone was appointed chief executive of Quilter Cheviot in January 2019 and of Quilter Cheviot Financial Planning in January 2022. Previously, he was head of Quilter Cheviot’s London office with overall responsibility for the front office functions, including the private client investment teams, and the research and dealing teams. He was also managing director of London Investment Management from 2015 to 2018. Davies joined Evelyn Partners in 2022 as group general counsel from Provident Financial Group PLC, where she was group general counsel and company secretary. Prior to this, she served as general counsel and company secretary at Cabot Credit Management. During her time at Cabot, she also served on the board of their industry body, the Credit Services Association as a non-executive director. She has also held senior positions at Lockton, the insurance brokerage, and insurer RSA group.

AXA Investment Managers (IM) has appointed Ouajnat Karim as its new UK CEO, subject to regulatory approval.

Karim will become UK CEO whilst retaining some of her current responsibilities as AXA IM Core global head of oversight and COO UK. She will have a dual reporting line to general secretary and CFO, Jean-Chistophe Menioux, and COO & global head of transversal services for AXA IM Core, Geoffroy Reiss. The role will be effective from 11 December 2024, when Karim takes over from current UK CEO, Marcello Arona, who is pursuing an “opportunity outside of the business”. Karim has 20 years of experience in financial services across alternatives, impact investing, and traditional asset classes, and joined AXA IM in 2007. She was appointed deputy COO of Core Investments (later AXA IM Core) in 2019, assuming her present role earlier this year. A member of the UK Executive Committee since 2019, she is also a non-executive director for two of AXA IM’s ICAVs

Ocorian has announced the appointment of Pav Czarnecki as client director, private client, based in Guernsey.

Czarnecki will report to Ocorian head of private client in Guernsey, Ken Wrigley, will work with the multi-jurisdictional team to deliver solutions tailored to the needs of high-net-worth families to help them unlock new value. He joins Ocorian with “extensive experience” in finance and operations, including recent roles supporting high-net-worth clients and family offices across Guernsey and the Middle East. His background spans regulatory compliance, investment identification, and operational restructuring, and has a “proven track record” optimising financial infrastructure to drive value and efficiency.
