People moves: Nucleus, Redington, and Aberdeen Investments

Adviser platform group Nucleus Financial Platforms has made appointments in two newly created roles within its financial leadership team.

Jenny Woods has been named as group financial controller, joining from Aberdeen Group where she has held several finance roles, including interim chief financial officer of Americas and head of group financial reporting, over 20 years. Meanwhile, Jennifer O’Brien has been appointed as commercial finance director. Prior to joining Nucleus, O’Brien was most recently commercial finance director at Clearbank, and has also held senior roles at Deloitte, Aegon, the NatWest Group, and M&G plc, where she was CFO of the wealth division.

Investment consultant Redington has appointed Dipan Roy to its global assets team as head of portfolio construction.

In this newly created role, Roy will oversee asset allocation advice to clients across wealth management, charities, insurance and local authorities, and work closely with Redington’s channel specialists to develop new solutions to improve investment outcomes and drive growth. Roy brings 20 years’ experience in constructing and managing investment portfolios for both institutional investors and wealth managers. He joins from global wealth and asset manager, London & Capital, where he was deputy chief investment officer, prior to which he held senior roles within the investment strategy teams at NFU Mutual and Prudential Portfolio Management Group.

Aberdeen Investments has named John McCareins as its new chief client officer.

McCareins will join the firm from Northern Trust Asset Management, where he was executive vice president and head of international. He will join Aberdeen in mid-June 2025 and will sit on Aberdeen’s Group Executive Leadership Team. He brings more than 25 years of institutional investment and advisory experience, having most recently led Northern Trust Asset Management’s international business from London, including APAC and EMEA. McCareins will be responsible for Aberdeen Investments’ global commercial franchise, including strategic partnerships, business development, client experience, and advancing its solutions capabilities across insurance companies, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, and wealth managers.
