HSBC has appointed Sami Abouzahr as global head of investments and managed solutions, wealth and premier solutions.
In his new role, Abouzahr will lead the bank’s wealth product strategy and delivery of sustainable investment, fund, discretionary portfolio management, and alternative investment solutions to private banking and premier wealth clients globally. With the expanded responsibilities of the position, Abouzahr will also lead HSBC’s ultra high net worth solutions group. He was previously HSBC head of wealth and premier solutions, Hong Kong, and will continue in the role until the appointment of his successor.
Brown Shipley, a Quintet Private Bank, has named Katrina Johnson as head of north region.
Reporting to Brown Shipley CEO, Robert Kitchen, Johnson will be based in Manchester and oversee Brown Shipley’s Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh, and Birmingham offices, and be part of Brown Shipley’s executive committee. Johnson joins Brown Shipley from Barclays Wealth Management, where she spent 17 years in senior private banking and operations roles. Most recently, she was regional director, north England, covering Manchester, Leeds, and Newcastle. At Brown Shipley, Johnson will focus on further developing the bank’s strategy for the north of England.
Saffery Trust has announced 17 promotions, including seven directorships.
The promotions see Guernsey’s Claire Bufton promoted to finance director and Sharon Coburn to people & culture director, while Stefan Aegerter was promoted to executive director in Zurich. Donna Brehaut, Nicky Kendall, Tim Le Page, and Simon Murphy were all promoted to client director in Guernsey. The firm also announced the promotions of Aidan Tarran-Jones to associate director, Katherine Edwards and Esther Smyth to trust managers, and Saskia Scheelbeek to senior trust officer in its Geneva office. Other Guernsey promotions saw Sam Ward named as transformation assistant manager, Sonia Bowditch as senior information security officer, Sue Le Gallez as learning & development officer, Greg Tompkins as trust officer, and Oluwakemi Ogunti and Dan Strobl as senior trust administrators.
