People moves: Brown Shipley, Stonehage Fleming, and Cazenove Capital

Brown Shipley, a Quintet Private Bank, has appointed Paul Williams as head of compliance.

Williams, who succeeds Kelvin Clough, has 20 years of experience at firms including GE Money, Lloyds Banking Group, and HSBC, spanning retail, wealth management, and commercial banking businesses. Most recently, Williams was group head of wholesale conduct and standards at HSBC responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of HSBC’s conduct framework. He previously served as UK head of compliance for their retail businesses and commercial banking. Williams will report to Brown Shipley chief executive, Robert Kitchen, and Quintet Group head of compliance, Simon Spilsbury.

Multi-family office Stonehage Fleming has named Sally Fernee as group head of investment management operating functions.

Fernee joins Stonehage Fleming from Lombard International where she acted as group chief of staff, alongside her executive management and regulatory responsibility for a UK advisory entity. She has almost 40 years of experience in banking across the UK and Channel Islands, and helped develop HSBC Private Bank’s Global investment offering. At Stonehage Fleming, Fernee will be responsible for aligning business processes with operational platforms, playing a lead role in supporting Stonehage Fleming to enhance operational infrastructure, technology and team delivery. She will be based in London and report to Stonehage Fleming Investment Management CEO, Graham Wainer.

Cazenove Capital, the wealth management business of Schroders in the UK, has appointed Hugo Ure as portfolio director in its charities team.

Ure beings almost 20 years of investment experience to the role. During his time at Troy Asset Management, he held roles including the co-manager of the Trojan Income fund, the manager of the Trojan Ethical Income fund and head of responsible investment. Ure started his investment career working at Kleinwort Benson. Cazenove Capital said Ure will play a key role in supporting the 30-strong charities team, collaborating closely with existing charity clients, with an emphasis on direct equity and sustainability strategies.
