Over 250 financial planners achieve CII chartered status in H1

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) awarded 258 individuals with chartered financial planner status in the first half of 2026, the professional body has revealed.

In H1, a total of 453 insurance and financial planning professionals achieved chartered status, with 195 gaining chartered designations across the insurance profession.

CII stated that while public trust and professionalism remained central to insurance and financial planning, the number of people working to receive chartered status underlined a ‘broad understanding’ of its value.

The professional body also reported growth in 2025, with the number of chartered designations awarded rising from 1,127 in 2024 to 1,139 in 2025.

Last year, 477 chartered financial planning titles and 662 chartered insurance titles were awarded, compared to 498 and 629 respectively in 2024.

CII president, Callum Beaton, commented: "We are delighted to see continued growth in the number of individuals who recognise the value in chartered status, and invest considerable time and effort in demonstrating their technical expertise, integrity and commitment to acting in clients’ best interests."

Personal Finance Society vice president, Kate Gannon, added: "For financial planners, chartered status is a clear signal of professionalism.

“It demonstrates that individuals are investing in their knowledge, maintaining their competence and upholding the standards that help people make confident decisions about their financial futures."
