Lockhart announces Northcote Equity as minority investment partner

Financial planning and wealth management firm Lockhart Capital Management has announced Northcote Equity as a minority investment partner to support its next phase of growth.

Lockhart said the investment would enable it to continue investing in its clients, people, and technology while maintaining its employee-led ownership model.

The firm was founded in 2017 and manages over £1bn of client assets for over 400 families.

Its offices in Cobham, Aberdeen, and Leeds provide personalised advice and investment management to high net worth individuals and families.

Through its partnership with Northcote Equity, Lockhart will look to enhance its technology and infrastructure, strengthen its team, attract advisers and specialists, and expand its presence in the market.

Lockhart will continue to be majority owned and controlled by its employees, while its founding partners and wider management team will retain a ‘significant’ ownership stake and continue to lead the business.

“Since founding Lockhart, our ambition has always been to build an enduring business that can support clients and their families for generations,” said Lockhart Capital Management CEO and founding partner, Jon Bowes.

“This partnership strengthens our ability to deliver on that ambition. Northcote shares our long-term outlook and our belief that exceptional client outcomes are built on independence, trusted relationships and consistently high standards of advice.

“Their investment gives us additional resources to invest in our people, technology and future growth, while preserving the qualities that make Lockhart distinctive."

Northcote Equity co-founder, Matthew Charman, added: “When we first met Jon and the team, we were drawn to Lockhart’s focus on delivering exceptional client service, building long-term relationships and offering a market leading investment solution via Lockhart Asset Management.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Jon and the wider team to support the next stage of the firm's development, while preserving the boutique culture and client-first approach that have underpinned its success."
