People moves: AJ Bell, Weatherbys, and Equiom

AJ Bell has promoted Charlene Young to the newly created role of head of technical.

Young will lead AJ Bell’s technical capability across pensions, investments, tax, financial planning and adviser practice. She will be responsible for ensuring that complex regulation, legislation and tax matters are interpreted consistently and communicated clearly to advisers and customers. Young has worked at AJ Bell for over 12 years, most recently as senior pensions and savings expert, and has previous experience as a chartered financial planner and paraplanner.

Weatherbys Private Bank has hired two new private bankers, Nick Armstrong-Flemming and Jonathan Batley.

The appointments mark the private bank’s 10th and 11th appointments over the past year as it looks to double in size before the end of the decade. Armstrong-Flemming has been appointed as a senior private banker and spent five years as an Army officer before entering private banking. He had roles with C. Hoare & Co. and Adam & Company before moving to Arbuthnot Latham, where he was senior private banker in the international team. Meanwhile, Batley was an officer in the Royal Navy before he moved into broadcasting and then into finance, spending more than nine years at Coutts & Co as a private banker, a role he will take up at Weatherbys.

Equiom has appointed Sharon Rogers as executive director, private wealth & family office, and Allister Carey as director, corporate services.

The appointments seek to strengthen Equiom’s leadership team in Guernsey and support the development of its private wealth, family office, corporate services, and employee retirement & benefits rewards offering. Rogers has more than 30 years of experience across the international fiduciary and private wealth sector. She has held senior positions within both major global fiduciary organisations and independent businesses, alongside gaining international financial services experience in Asia and Australia. Carey brings more than 20 years of experience in Guernsey’s trust and company sector to his new role. Prior to joining Equiom, he held senior leadership positions within Guernsey’s fiduciary sector, as well as executive directorships within licensed fiduciary businesses, acting as both trustee and corporate director.
