Investment manager Capital Group has launched its flagship global equity strategy, New Perspective, in the UK as an open-ended investment company (OEIC).

The introduction of the Capital Group UK – New Perspective Fund (NPF UK) will allow UK investors to gain access to the strategy.

Its aim is to enable investors to capitalise on changes in the world economy that Capital Group’s research found 60 per cent of UK financial intermediaries agree are happening.

NPF UK applies bottom-up research to help find and invest in multinational firms that Capital Group believes will offer growth opportunities and resilience able to drive and benefit from global change.

Research from Capital Group found that while UK intermediaries agree there was a confluence of ‘megatrends’ that are shaping the global economy, 71 per cent saw artificial intelligence as the single megatrend that presented the best investment opportunities over the coming 12 to 24 months.

Meanwhile, Capital Group also identified other megatrends that could be being overlooked, with 13 per cent of intermediaries citing the energy transition, 9 per cent highlighting healthcare innovation, and 6 per cent citing evolving globalisation.

More than half (56 per cent) of financial intermediaries in the UK had a positive investment outlook, with 58 per cent planning to increase the amount invested over the coming year.

Investors were found to be the most confident with investing in equities at 56 per cent, with 61 per cent of those planning to increase their equity allocations over the next 12 months.

In equity investments, multinational firms were seen by 71 per cent of intermediaries as offering strong growth prospects over the coming decades.

“Change in the global economy is constant, but the current landscape stands out due to a unique blend of numerous structural shifts happening all at once,” commented Capital Group equity investment director, Steve Smith.

“In this new era, investment strategies like New Perspective offer the flexibility to navigate market shifts unrestricted by sector, theme, or style, to capture a broad opportunity set and new reality of investing.”

Capital Group head of UK financial intermediaries, Chris Miles, added: “Our research shows that 70 per cent of intermediaries consider it difficult to find an equity fund that can demonstrate its ability to invest through market cycles and periods of uncertainty.
